In just 9 weeks the NFL will kick off for its 60th season in the Super Bowl era. The odds are live, the fantasy outlooks are happening, and training camps are soon to be underway. In this article we’re going to look way too far ahead in the future and give you the team that has the best payout per likelihood of winning the Super Bowl. Here is why I am picking the Minnesota Vikings to Be the 2025 nFL Champions.
Last year’s Minnesota Vikings accomplished one of the best seasons the franchise has ever seen. They finished 14-3, the second best record in the conference and were a Week 18 win away from having the top seed in the NFC. Despite the hype that the underdog Vikings created, their season finished in disappointment with a first round playoff loss to the LA Rams. This season, the Minneapolis based team has reloaded and is ready to fire with young and experienced talent across the board.
As it stands, DraftKings has the Minnesota Vikings at +3000 odds to win the Super Bowl and +1400 to make it there. The value of this pick is worth throwing multiple units on, in my opinion. The reason for sportsbooks undervaluing the Vikings this season after an incredible showing last year is related to the uncertaintity with their new quarterback, the 7th hardest schedule that Minnesota has, and strength of the NFC North opposition. However, the overall gain from the Vikings this off-season puts the team in a great spot to succeed this year.
Let’s breakdown some of the moves that make this Vikings team even better than they were last year. In free agency they kept crucial players like RB Aaron Jones, CB Byron Murphy Jr., and S Harrison Smith. They did this while also bringing in elite level talent such as CB Jeff Okudah, G Will Fries, and a new defensive front duo of DTs Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Allen. These signings all vamp up an already dangerous defensive unit for the Vikings.
In the draft, the Minnesota front office targeted offensive protection by grabbing OSU guard Donovan Jackson in the first round. This new offensive line will help to open the run game, which struggled in Minnesota last year, for RBs Aaron Jones and newly acquired Jordan Mason. Additionally, it will create safety for their hope-to-be franchise QB JJ McCarthy.

Let’s talk about JJ McCarthy for a second, because the pressure is on for this National Champion to prove his worth after missing his entire rookie year. McCarthy suffered a torn meniscus during 2024 training camp, which left the door open for former 1st round QB Sam Darnold to spearhead Minnesota’s charge to the playoffs. With success on the line and a franchise that is building towards championship status, all eyes are on the second year QB to prove why he’s the new face of the franchise.
McCarthy also received a lot of criticism around the time he was drafted for being a part of a run-first system in Michigan. While his coach, Jim Harbaugh, certainly loved to put the football on the ground, McCarthy made many championship winning plays by using his precision to fit balls through tight windows and throw his receivers open. With one of the NFL’s top receiving cores (including the likes of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and TJ Hockenson), McCarthy will be able to improve on the skills he already portrayed during the 2023 college football season.
I do believe that Minnesota’s success is dependent on JJ McCarthy. And as stated earlier, the NFC North will be a tough division to get through. These factors have certainly caused the Vikings to be long-shots in the eyes of the sportsbooks but playing these odds might bring success to you too.
